Anora—the critically acclaimed, award-winning romantic comedy starring Mikey Madison—is arriving on digital streaming this week.
Written and directed by Sean Baker, Anora held its world premiere in May at the Cannes International Film Festival, where it won the festival’s top prize the Palme d’Or. The film debuted in North American theaters in limited release on October 18 before opening nationwide on November 8.
The official logline for Anora reads, “Anora (Madison, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as his parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.
According to When to Stream, Anora will arrive on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Prime Video, which confirmed the release date, has Anora listed for pre-order for $19.99, which is a reflection of the film’s purchase price. Since digital rental prices are typically $5 less, viewers can expect to rent Anora for $14.99 for a 48-period.
In addition to Prime Video, Anora will be available on a variety of digital platforms, including AppleTV and VUDU.
In addition to the Palme d’Or, Anora has earned several accolades this awards season, including a Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy nomination from the Golden Globes and Best Picture nominations from the Critics Choice Association and Film Independent Spirit Awards.
The film has also been named Best Picture by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Boston Society of Film Critics.

According to The NumbersAnora earned $13.4 million domestically and nearly $12.4 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $25.8 million. Per Collider, Anora had a reported production budget of $6 million before prints and advertising costs.
Anora was widely embraced by Rotten Tomatoes critics, earning a 96% “fresh” rating based on 283 reviews.
RT’s Critics Consensus for Anora reads, “Another marvelous chronicle of America’s strivers by writer-director Sean Baker given some extra pizzazz by Mikey Madison’s brassy performance, Anora is a romantic drama on the bleeding edge.”
The R-rated film also earned a 90% “fresh” rating on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 500-plus verified user ratings. The audience summary on RT for Anora reads, “Flipping fairy tale lore upside down, Anoralike its titular anti-princess, may make you laugh and still break your heart.”
Anorawhich also stars Mark Eydelshteyn, Yura Borisov, Karren Karagulian and Vache Tovmasyan, debuts on PVOD on Tuesday.
